A DS3 Line or T3 Internet is a digital signal communication dedicated circuit that transmits data at speeds of 44.736 Mbps (Mega Bits Per Second), rounded up to 45MB exclusively to an Internet backbone via an ISP. The end result is that a T1 is used to provide last mile Internet Access to an ISP’s (Internet Service Provider’s) Point of Presence also known as their PoP, a local loop is then delivered and T1 access is provisioned as 1.536 Mbps of bandwidth and a full 1.536 Mbps bi-directional plus the .008 Mbps of framing bits which equals the 1.544 Mbps. So before you go shopping for T1 Lines make sure that it is a true T1 and not one of those oversubscribed wireless circuits where the whole neighborhood is sharing the connection and is promoted in local markets for a ridiculously lower price that is traditionally sold by the T1 Internet Service Providers. Thus the technology is not able to be used by the ever day person, but the technology keeps advancing. Soon it's sure that other components in the personal computer will be created to handle the higher speed of a gigabit Ethernet. Raise your hands if you have a T1 Line, in your head of course, unless you would just like to raise your hands to stretch. Now, raise your hands if your T1 Line is too slow. Good, now that I have your attention, those who have raised their hands on both occasions hope is not all lost. There is a term out there in Telecom world called Bonded T1. A Bonded T1 is 2 T1’s Bonded which makes 1.5 Mbps x 2 = 3 Mbps. Since the price of T1’s have came down dramatically due to the competition and technology solutions, a Bonded T1 might just be in your budget. Now here are some obvious answers to questions but we will go through the motion anyways. Advancing from slow speeds that took several minutes for a full page to come up. To the Ethernet first coming on and a speed of 10 megabits. But it got even better in a few years as that was increased up to 100 megabits per second. However, it's not up to a gigabit Ethernet which is a full gigabit per second. This speed is amazing. |
