Reliability becomes critical when customers or employees depend on your connection for immediate responses. If your customers use your connection to access your databases or your server or the internet then reliability of your connection is critical. If your employees depend on your connections because you host the e-mail server in house or host web servers, your connections is considered critical. A critical connection can be viewed much like a life line, without which your business would be negatively impacted. Your monthly savings of having a sub-par connections will not make up for the loss in productivity of your employees or loss of customers when your DSL connections gets bogged down or cut off. To reiterate, critical connections should be supported with a T1.

When Ethernet first increased from 10 to 100 megabits, it was a huge success. But the next step in that line of great technology was a gigabit Ethernet. Many different types of gigabit Ethernet are out there available for you to use. The IEEE 892.3ab, which defines the ideas and limits of the gigabit Ethernet came about back in 1999. This is when organizations could begin using the copper cabling to bring in Ethernet.

The information age has brought about some pretty cool technology such as T1 Lines, DS3’s, Metro Ethernet and GigE Connectivity for businesses as well as homes. With that being said, complexities are also prevalent with such technological leaps. If you have ever searched out telecommunications providers, you may have found that not only is the technology somewhat confusing, but choosing a carrier can be difficult as well. Not all carriers and technology are alike. Each have their strengths and weaknesses in many areas. Some technology costs very little and some cost enough to make multiple mortgage payments.

While the copper cable will usually only reach a distance of 25 meters. Some of the single mode fiber will reach all the way up to 10 km. Depending on the type of wavelength that is used, and the layer of gigabit Ethernet there are many different meters and lengths that can be reached.

These smaller Telco’s rely on Telecom Agents, Consultants and Advisors to get the word out about their voice and/or data services. This means a smaller telecom expense for you. Now every service provider has its strength and weakness, but doing all this research can be cumbersome and exhaustive in manpower and revenue. This is why the telco’s adopted and crafted the Agent Channel. With the advent of the Agent Channel, Telecom Agencies hired software engineers to develop rating engines and quoting tools to research all of the nationwide databases of the telecommunications service providers.
